Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

OfficeJet 3830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was able to successfully scan two documents from the document feeder as a .PDF, but now I cannot. It suddenly switched to only scanning from the flatbed.

I have the "full feature" software installed but it lacks any actual features or even functions/abilities. The "solutions" from these posts are all over the place. I just need to know why it stopped working and how do I get it to resume?

I looked at the scan profiles but none of them have a .PDF option. I also tried to start a scan from Devices and Printers but it didn't work either. I shouldn't have to do any of that anyway.

The first two successful attempts, I was able to select Scan to PDF from the printer itself, but now it just starts scanning after I select the computer. Why won't it prompt me to Scan to PDF anymore? I am not interested in solutions that involve doing something on the computer. I want the real solution to force the printer to prompt me to Scan to PDF and scan the document to my Documents folder like it already has done. Everything from my computer wants to scan to an image file format, which I do not want, and it wants to scan or import to some other place other than my Documents folder.

Thank you for your assistance.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Restart the printer.

If the issue persists, Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

If the issue persists, Delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

Remove the USB if connected

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-seri... to download and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Try to print.
