I have the message 'scanner error 17' on the screen of my printer. 

I have followed instructions to turn the printer off and on again, I have unplugged from exstention cord and plugged into the wall socket  but still not change.

Does anyone have the answer please??

As per this document, Scanner Error 17 indicates that the scanner motor is in the incorrect position. Since a power reset didn't clear the error, its possible that the internal scan assembly or the formatter is faulty. Please call HP Support to obtain all available repair/replacement options. Hello I am receiving the Scanner Error 17 on my HP Color LaserJet MF477.

We have treid power cycling the printer. No change.

Did a cold reset. No change.

Since you tried all possible steps, I'm afraid, its a possible hardware failure. Please call HP Support to obtain all available repair/replacement options. You may use the following steps to contact your regional HP Support:

1) Click on this link.

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device. 

4) Select the country from the drop-down. 

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 

6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.
