Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When attempting to scan I get a message that the scanner was not found.  I have been using this device for several years with no problems.  Troubleshooting says there is an updated driver available.  I have attempted to download the updated driver but it keeps sending me to HP Smart something that doesn't work.  I've downloaded it multiple times and it seems worthless.  

 

No recent software additions or updates other than the HP stuff trying to update.

The 6978 is connected directly to the Dell PC using the UBS cable.
