Officejet 8025e

The light bar that scans the document on the glass keeps trying to move when the printer is on, but not being used. You can hear it jerking in place.

The printer keeps saying there is a document jam in the document feeder and there isn't. I cannot scan on the glass or with the feeder.

There is obvious a software glitch big time.

Hi @BJB2000,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a software glitch with your HP Officejet 8025e. If your printer is displaying a paper jam message in the document feeder even though there is no actual jam, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Restart the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the power outlet, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer. This simple step can often resolve temporary glitches.
  • Clear any paper from the document feeder: Open the document feeder cover and visually inspect it for any paper remnants or foreign objects. If you find any, carefully remove them. Even a small piece of debris can trigger a false paper jam error.
  • Reset the printer settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the settings or preferences menu. Look for an option to reset the printer settings to their default values. Confirm the reset, and the printer will revert to its original settings. This can help clear any software-related issues.
  • Update the printer firmware: Visit the HP support website and search for your printer model. Look for the latest firmware or software update available for your printer. Download and install the update following the instructions provided by HP. Firmware updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve such issues.
  • Perform a factory reset: This step should be used as a last resort because it will erase all customized settings and return the printer to its original factory state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
