I have been having problems since July and it seems that there is a driver update issue with this printer.

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Try looking at this tutorial on cleaning the scanner glass: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6617267/document/c0534...

 

It could just be some paper specs on the Document Feeder Glass (See #3 below)

my warranty ended in July, 1 year. my printer keeps shutting down, and Have to turn it off and on. vertical line with scan and copy from the feeder.

thank you. I cleaned the glass several times, every possible angle through the video tutorial. turned it off and on, unplugged etc
