HP 8600 ALL PREMIUM ALL IN ONE PRINTER,FAX,COPIER,SCANNER
macOS 10.14 Mojave

HP 8600 PREMIUM all in one has not been able to scan since I upgraded to Mohave 10.14.2.  Print, copy and fax still work fine.  When I try to scan the error message says "HP  Scan 3 cannot be opened because of a problem"

I am afraid to uninstall all of the HP drivers because I could lose printer, copier, fax functions.  I need to be able to scan, though!

Removing the existing Scanner Application and then installing HP Easy Scan may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1.) Open Finder, click Applications.

2.) Delete the existing HP scanner applications by moving it to trash.

3.) Download and install HP Easy Scan from here

Instruction on how to use HP Easy Scan can be found here
