Officejet 6950 all in one printer
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Scanner operates fine in flat bed mode, but does not pick up the original using the document feeder. Error message says to make sure document feeder is closed completely. It seems to be. I have run the scan doctor diagnostic tool, it says, "scanner mispick detected, verify paper is loading correctly (seems to be), clean the document feeder roller.

Might need to clean the scanner ADF bar and the ADF rollers.

Not sure if the Doctor would find / fix this type of error - IF the problem is mechanical (dirty, for example), the diagnostics might not help.

To try it...

Open your printer Home Page - the Doctor and what kind of issues it can help are shown under the Troubleshooting category.

The main version is 5.2.1 which is meant to resolve print and scan issues, available when you select No on the download page.

Another version - 5.0.4 is specially designed to resolve Printer Offline conditions, available when you select Yes on the download page.

Please browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP and delete the Diagnostics folder.

On the top address bar type %appdata% and press enter, then delete the HPPSDr folder, these fully removes any existing version of the tool from your computer.

Next, download and run the latest Print and Scan Doctor Utility version 5.2.1 below and check for any difference:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe
