Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Why do the buttons no longer work? I can scan and copy by using the HP Solution Center, click on Home button. Choices are Make a copy, Scan Picture and Scan Document  and able to scan and make copies. Buttons do not light up ... unless I use software on computer.

Hello,

Please check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service to see if it is working properly by doing the following:

  1. On the keyboard, press the Windows flag and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
  2. Type services.msc and OK. The Services (local) window opens.
  3. Double-click on Windows Image Acquisition, then click on the Connection tab.
  4. Check Local System Account and Allow the service to interact with the office.
  5. Click on the Dependencies tab and check that Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Kernel Hardware Detection exist in the first window.
  6. Click on the General tab, and restart the service by clicking on Stop, then Start.
  7. Close the Services window.
  8. Try to scan.

 

If the kernel hardware detection dependency does not exist, please add it as follows:

  1. Simultaneously press the Windows flag and the R key. The Run window opens.
  2. Type regedit, then OK. The registry editor opens.
  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Services and select StiSvc.
  4. In the right pane double click on Depend on service.
  5. You will find RpcSs, just add ShellHWDetection below then click on Enter and OK.
  6. Close the registry editor.
  7. Try to scan.

Please download and run the following patch:

If the kernel hardware detection dependency does not exist, please add it as follows:

  1. Simultaneously press the Windows flag and the R key. The Run window opens.
  2. Type regedit, then OK. The registry editor opens.
  3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Services and select StiSvc.
  4. In the right pane double click on Depend on service.
  5. You will find RpcSs, just add ShellHWDetection below then click on Enter and OK.
  6. Close the registry editor.
  7. Try to scan.


If the problem persists
, please follow the following procedure:

  1. Press the Windows flag and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
  2. Type %temp%, then OK. the temp folder opens.
  3. Locate then double click on the 7zS... folder (if there are several, choose the most recent one).
  4. Double click on the utility folder, then ccc and run Uninstall_L1.bat. The computer will restart after the uninstallation.
  5. Re-access the same location to launch Uninstall_L2.bat, Uninstall_L3.bat and Uninstall_L4.bat.
  6. After the last restart of the PC, launch the registry editor:
    1. Press the Windows flag and the R key simultaneously. The Run window opens.
    2. Type regedit, then OK. The registry editor opens.
    3. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, right-click on Hewlett-Packard and Delete. (If the PC is HP brand, develop Hewlett-Packard and delete Digital Imaging)
  7. Delete the HP DeskJet F4400 series folder in the path:
    • C:\Programmes files (x86)\
    • C:\Program files\
  8. Launch a new printer installation with the HP Deskjet F4400 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.
