Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

According to EVERY place I look, including HPs own documentation specific for my MFC, in order to scan with my Chromebook I need to enter the printers IP address and open up this so called "Embedded web server" page.  On that page I am supposed to be able to initiate scanning.  Except that what appears is NOT as pictured and described in the documentation provided for my specific MFC.  Sure, it's my printers settings, but the screen has a green header and there is NOT a scan tab.  I literally can control EVERYTHING about the printer, but NOT scan. I honestly have NEVER been so frustrated in 30 years of computing.

Hi,

Webscan is the only option available for Chrome, however, the feature is available for Inkjet printers only, not for Laserjet, and therefore not available/applicable for your printer.

I am afraid that only printing is supported for your printer on a Chromebook.

You may check the possibility to install Android apps on your Chromebook if your Chromebook support a such (please consult Google's doc below):

https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/7021273?hl=en

If it is supported, you may try installing and using the HP Smart app to scan:

Hope that may help,

Shlomi
