HP LaserJet 9200 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just set up my new HP LaserJet printer and can scan great from the SmartHP app to my computer using the automatic document feeder. When I try to use the touch screen on the face of the printer and scan directly to my computer, and when I load my document into the automatic document feeder, it recognizes the document so I know that I loaded it correctly, but when I scan, it will only scan the flatbed screen (a blank page) and send it to my computer. In reading the owner’s manual, it seems like it is supposed to automatically recognize that there is a document in the ADR. I know the ADR is working, so I’m perplexed as to what to do to fix it. If there is a setting that needs to be changed to default to the ADR when printing to computer from the touch screen, I cannot find it. Any thoughts or solutions? I used this feature all the time from the HP 8600 with no issues. Thanks.

Change settings in HP Scan before you complete a scan job.

Selecting a shortcut and making sure settings are correct for the scan job

  1. Scan Shortcuts

  2. Show Viewer After Scan check box

  3. Source options

  4. Scan settings

  5. More

  1. Select a Scan Shortcut, such as Save as PDF or Email as JPEG.

    NOTE:

To save or email a multi-page scan as a single file, select a PDF shortcut. Multi-page JPEG scans save as separate files.

  2. Select the Show Viewer After Scan check box.

  3. If your printer has both a document feeder and scanner glass, select Document Feeder if loaded under Source.

  4. Make sure the other settings such as Page Size, Color Mode, and Page Sides match your scan job.

    NOTE:

If you want to scan both sides and 2-sided scanning is not an option, you can add pages to your scan later.

  5. Click More to change advanced settings, such as Resolution (ppi), Orientation, Destination, and File Name.
