Printer is stuck on paper size "ENVELOPE # 10".  When I try to make a simple copy, a message comes up saying "Copy does not support envelope #10.  Load a supported size of paper in the tray to continue"  Some things I have tried.....

  1. returned to computer that I tried to print the envelope from and made sure that the correct paper size was selected.
  2.  Turned off the printer
  3.  Unplugged the printer
  4.   Tried to use virtual assistant.

Any one have any ideas?

@sunbird339,

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting an error when you try making a copy.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Are you getting this error only when you try making a copy?

Have you tried printing from your computer to an A4 size paper?

Meanwhile, follow the below steps to change the paper size settings in the printer front panel.

Open the copy settings menu from the printer control panel.

  1. Touch Copy, Copy Document, or Copy Photo on the printer control panel, and then change any available basic settings as needed.

  2. Touch Settings or the gear icon  to view more copy settings.

    NOTE:

You might need to scroll down the control panel screen to access all settings. Available settings vary by printer model.

    • 2-Sided Copying: Copy on both sides of the paper. Depending on the model, the menu is typically available under the Document copy settings. Either touch On, select the box next to the setting, or select an available option from the drop-down menu.

    • ID Copy: Prints both sides of an identification card or driver's license on a one-sided copy. The printer prompts you to flip the ID card over to complete the copy job.

    • Size or Resize: Change the size of the copy. Options can include a list of presets, custom sizes between 25 and 400 percent of the original size, Fit to Page, and an Actual Size setting to make a borderless copy.

    • Paper Size: Select the paper size you are making the copies on, or select Automatic to let the printer detect the paper loaded in the tray.

    • Paper Type: Select the type of plain or photo paper you are making the copies on. If the incorrect paper type is selected, this might result in slow copy speeds.

    • Tray Selection: Select the paper input tray with the paper you are using for your copies.

    • Quality: Select an available copy quality level. Copy time can increase when using the best setting.

    • Lighter/Darker: If the original is faded or too saturated, make the copy lighter or darker.

    • Enhancements: Select the type of item you are copying to improve quality, such as sharpening text and image edges or improving faded colors in photos.

    • HP Copy Fix: Automatic copy quality and skew adjustment tool.

    • Collate: Turn the feature on or off for multi-page copies.

    • Binding Margin or Margin Shift: Touch On to copy pages with a margin shifted to the left side of the page.

    • Save Current Settings or Set as New Defaults: Retains the selected settings for future copy jobs.

    • Restore Factory Defaults: Restores all copy settings to their original defaults.

  3. Depending on the printer, touch Start, or return to the main Copy screen by touching Back, and then touch Start Black, Start Color, or OK to start the copy job.

    NOTE:

If the adjusted settings do not improve copy quality, check the original for color issues, flaws, and low resolution. If issues are found, scan the original, improve the quality with the editing tools in HP scanning software, and then print the scan to use as the new original.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
