HP Sprocket Photo Printer
iOS

I am attempting to update the firmware on my Sprocket. The option to do so is there in the app, but when I tap on it nothing happens. I have tried re-starting the devices, pairing with my iPad instead of my iPhone, resetting, forgetting and re-adding the printer, and deleting then re-installing the app. There is no change, the firmware update button will go slightly dim if I tap and hold it but otherwise nothing happens at all. Currently still on firmware version 1.1.3, and the battery is fully charged as far as I can tell.

I can print but the images are coming out weirdly warped.

Hi @hrooer,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

  1. Check Battery Level: Ensure that your Sprocket printer is charged to at least 25%. Firmware updates might not initiate if the battery charge is too low.

  2. Stable Internet Connection: Make sure your iOS device is connected to a stable internet or Wi-Fi network, as the update will require downloading data.

  3. Restart All Devices: Restart your iOS device and the HP Sprocket printer. This can sometimes resolve connectivity and app-related issues.

  4. Ensure Latest App Version: Check if you have the latest version of the HP Sprocket app installed. If not, update it from the App Store.

  5. Try Using Other Devices: If possible, try using a different iOS device that's compatible with the Sprocket app to perform the update.

  6. Reset the Sprocket Printer: Perform a factory reset on your Sprocket printer. Be sure to back up any data as this will return the printer to factory settings. This can sometimes fix issues with settings that block firmware updates.

  7. Check Permissions: Double-check that the app has all required permissions on your iOS device for proper operation.
