I have tried multiple times to update the firmware on my sprocket printer.

I have forgotten the device and re paired it.

I have done the reset with the button on the device.

Everytime it starts the update and then it gives me an error message that Update failed and when I press "try again" it does nothing.

Hi @Ctillett94,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with the firmware update on your HP Sprocket printer. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Fully Charge the Printer

  • Make sure your HP Sprocket is fully charged before attempting to update the firmware. A low battery can cause the update to fail.

Check the HP Sprocket App Version

  • Ensure that you are using the latest version of the HP Sprocket App. Check for updates in the app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store) and update the app if needed.

Reinstall the HP Sprocket App

  • If the app is up to date but the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Sprocket app on your mobile device. This can sometimes clear any app-specific errors.

Reset the Printer

  • Since you’ve already reset it using the button, confirm the reset by holding the reset button for at least 7 seconds. The light on the Sprocket should blink, indicating that the reset was successful.

Check for Available Space on Mobile Device

  • Ensure your mobile device has enough storage space to handle the firmware download. Low storage on your device could interfere with the update process.

Bluetooth Re-Pairing

  • Forget the Sprocket device from your Bluetooth settings again, restart your mobile device, and then re-pair the printer to your phone.

Try a Different Mobile Device

  • If the problem persists, try pairing and updating the firmware using a different mobile device to see if the issue is specific to your current device.

Check Internet Connection

  • Ensure that your phone has a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) during the update process, as the firmware is downloaded from HP servers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
