HP Recommended

My HP Sprocket Studio keeps telling me to install a new cartridge even though I did.  Was a Christmas gift I am finally trying to use due to illness in the family and it doesn't work.  How does my husband get his money back.  I can't click on for support because it wants a serial number which keeps telling me is invalid.  I'm done.
