Hello. I have an HP sprocket and it was not working before, but I managed to fix the issue before and it worked. Now I wanted to print something, but the light wasn’t coming on when I pressed the power button, so I charged it. I charged it for hours, but when I came back, it wasn’t working. I do know one thing, that when I pressed the charger fully in, the light (small dot shaped light) wasn’t turning on. So I adjusted it and it was not fully in, but I adjusted it to make sure the light was on and it turned red. I assumed that ment it was low battery. I came back, and I took it off the charger, but when I press the power button, it wasn’t turning on, so I went to my HP sprocket app, I found out how to reset it and I pushed the button to reset it until the light turned off. But now I can’t turn it back on. I’ve tried holding the power button for a long time, way more than 20 seconds (at least) and I can’t turn it on. My device is turned on, and connected to the Internet. I went to manage devices on the app, there’s a checkmark next to it, but I can’t click on it. There has been a problem with the sprocket before, but I did manage to fix it and it printed one picture properly. I never tested it with a second picture, but I’m thinking that if last time it worked, it should work now, but I don’t know what happened with it. I do not know what the warranty is, but I do know that I bought it in either July or August 2025. I see my serial number but when I try to add a product is seeing my serial number is invalid even though on the barcode it says Serial No:  and then a combination of letters and numbers.

Hi @Arj1231,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Sprocket isn't turning on or isn’t displaying the charging light as expected. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the Charging Cable and Port:

  • Ensure that you are using the original HP charging cable and adapter.

  • Inspect the charging cable and port for any visible damage or debris. Sometimes, dirt or lint can block the connection.

  • Try to use different USB cables and wall adapters to ensure that the issue is not with the charging accessories.

Ensure Proper Charging:

  • Connect your Sprocket to a power source using the USB cable.

  • Make sure the power source (like a wall outlet) is working effectively. You may want to try a different power outlet.

  • The small LED light on the Sprocket should turn on, indicating that the device is charging. It’s usually some shade of red when charging and turns green when fully charged.

Reset the Sprocket:

  • If charging doesn't resolve the problem, you may want to try resetting your Sprocket.

Verify the Charging Connection:

  • Make sure the charging plug is inserted properly. Avoid forcing it in.
  • If the charging light only appears when adjusting the connector, there could be a loose connection that may need professional repair.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello. I have checked, and I am using the official HP Sprocket charger, and there is no lint or debris in the charging cable or port, this port has always worked  and still does. My iPad can still charge on the same port. Also, charging isn’t the problem, it won’t charge, but the main problem is that I restarted it, and it didn’t turn back on.

I followed the instructions on the app to restart the Sprocket. I have a deadline this Saturday to print something that the Sprocket would be perfect for, I would really appreciate if you could help me with this issue.

Thank you.

Hi @Arj1231,

Thank you for your response.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your HP Sprocket. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem of your printer not turning on:

Troubleshooting Steps

Reset the Sprocket Printer:

  • Perform a hardware reset by removing the paper cover and pressing and holding the small round reset button near the paper tray until the printer turns off. The printer should automatically restart.

Check Battery Status:

  • Ensure the HP Sprocket is fully charged. For a complete charge, leave it connected to the power source until the charge LED indicator light turns green. It is recommended to use a micro-USB cable connected to a power source that provides 5Vdc/1A.

Perform a Factory Reset:

  • If the hardware reset doesn’t resolve the issue, you may need to perform a factory reset. Ensure the USB charging cable is NOT connected to the printer.

    1. Hold the power button for about 7 seconds. After about 3 seconds, the Status LED light will turn off to indicate the printer is shutting down. Continue to hold until the LED lights start to flash.

    2. Release the power button. The LEDs will continue blinking for about 6 seconds.

    3. While the LEDs are blinking, press and release the power button. The device will remain off until you power it on again.

Charge and Test:

  • Charge the device again after the resets. Ensure no USB cable is connected if performing a factory reset.

Firmware Update:

  • If it turns on, connect it to your mobile app and check for any available firmware updates. Make sure your printer is charged to at least 25% before performing any updates.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

The HP sprocket cannot turn on so the lights do not turn on at all. I tried to do the regular reset by pushing the small circle button inside of the printer and all of the lights turned off. but when I tried to power it back on, it did not work. I’ve held the button for a long time and still, it is not turning on. I tried to see if it was dead and I charged it but the light that it was supposed to indicate to me if it was charging doesn’t turn on. I do not know what to do and I cannot perform a factory reset because it’s not on at all.

Oh and also you said do not put the charger in when making a factory reset I think I might’ve watched a YouTube video and I think what happened was I did the regular reset like pushing the small circle button and then all the lights turned off and then I clicked the power button, but the lights didn’t turn on so even though all the lights on the printer was off. I did a factory reset even though everything was off, but I had the charger, but it wasn’t fully in, but the power might’ve still come into the sprocket and that might’ve caused a problem. but I do not think that is the problem because the lights didn’t come on even before I did the factory reset. I am not 100% sure right at the factory reset but that is what I remember and I would like to know what would happen if the charger was connected while doing the factory reset so I can see if that’s what happened to the sprocket.
