I just got the sprocket Photo Booth, and one of the big selling features for me was the ability to create custom frames, but I cannot seem to figure out how to do that. I have the Photobooth app downloaded, but don’t see a way to create in there, then I found another help article talking about the general sprocket app, but I can’t connect the Photo Booth to that app.

You’re absolutely right, this can be confusing because HP Sprocket Photo Booth and the HP Sprocket app are separate ecosystems. Here’s the key:

Why You Can’t Connect Photo Booth to the Sprocket App

  • The Photo Booth uses the HP Photobooth app, not the standard Sprocket app.
  • The Sprocket app is designed for Sprocket printers (like Sprocket Select or Studio), not the Photo Booth hardware.
  • That’s why your Photo Booth won’t appear in the Sprocket app.


Custom Frames Feature

  • Currently, custom frame creation is not built into the HP Photobooth app.
  • The app allows you to choose from preloaded frames and templates, but does not support uploading or designing your own frames directly.
  • HP’s official documentation confirms this limitation: custom frame creation is only available for certain Sprocket printers via the Sprocket app, not Photo Booth.


Workaround

  • You can create custom frames externally (using apps like Canva or Photoshop) and then print them as overlays on your Photo Booth prints.
  • Alternatively, check for app updates. HP may add this feature in future releases.
