My sprocket has suddenly started printing with missing lines. I've tried the reset button, using paper with the sticky showing (it got stuck), using the blue card. Nothing seems to get rid of the lines. I've been using it for months without any issue.
Any idea how I can fix this?

Hi @Jessicap25,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding sprocket!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these troubleshooting steps:
Use a Fresh Blue Smartsheet
- Make sure you run the blue Smartsheet from a new pack of HP Sprocket photo paper.
- Insert it with the barcode facing down and let the printer process it.
Check & Clean the Print Roller
- Turn off the Sprocket.
- Open the paper tray and remove any loaded paper.
- Use a dry, lint-free cloth (or slightly damp microfiber cloth) to gently wipe the roller inside.
- Let it dry completely before adding new paper.
Ensure You Are Using Genuine HP ZINK Paper
- Third-party ZINK paper can cause print defects.
- Make sure you're using official HP Sprocket 2x3" photo paper.
Reset the Sprocket (Hard Reset)
- Turn on the printer.
- Locate the reset button (usually inside the paper tray).
- Press and hold it for about 10-15 seconds using a paperclip.
- The printer will restart—try printing again.

Update Firmware via HP Sprocket App
- Open the HP Sprocket app on your phone.
- Tap Menu (☰) → Sprocket → Printers.
- Select your printer and tap Check for Firmware Updates.
- Install any available updates and restart the printer.
Try a Different Photo
- Some images may not print correctly due to their resolution or file corruption.
- Test with a different photo to see if the problem persists.
