Hello,

I received my HP Sprocket Photobooth yesterday and began setting it up.  The touch screen was responsive at first, but I let the machine sit idle for 10-15min or so on the 'Select Language' screen and when I came back the screen was responsive to my touch.  I've tried turning it off and on, waiting 10s or more in between, and it didn't fix it.  I also tried leaving it unplugged overnight and that didn't work, either.  After a few moments of being on, it reverts back to the 'Tap to Start' screen, but that's still unresponsive to my touch.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.  Thank you for your help.

Thanks,

Sam

Hi @musiccityuser

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details. The HP Sprocket Photobooth screen should remain responsive during setup, so let’s go through precise steps to restore functionality:

Power Reset

  • Turn off the photobooth using the power button.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds before reconnecting.
  • Power the device back on.

Check Touchscreen Calibration

  • When the device starts, confirm that the screen lights up evenly.
  • If the “Select Language” screen appears, try pressing firmly once on the “Next” button instead of multiple taps.
  • Avoid holding the screen for long durations; use single touches.

Firmware Verification

  • Ensure the photobooth is connected to a stable power source.
  • From another device, install or update the HP App.
  • Open the HP App and check if the photobooth is detected. If detected, follow the prompts to update firmware. This ensures the touchscreen software is current.

USB Reset Option

  • If the HP App does not detect the photobooth, connect a USB keyboard to the photobooth (if available).
  • Restart the device and check if the keyboard allows navigation past the language screen. This helps confirm whether the touchscreen is the only affected component.

Environment Check

  • Place the photobooth on a flat, stable surface.
  • Ensure no protective film or residue is covering the touchscreen.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or glare on the screen during setup.

If the screen remains unresponsive after these steps, the next action is to complete setup through the HP App and confirm whether the device responds to remote commands. This helps isolate whether the issue is with the touchscreen hardware or the initial configuration.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
