Hi @hemanth2789

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If Windows 11 cumulative updates—including version 25H2—haven’t installed for over a month, the issue may stem from update blocks, corrupted components, or misconfigured settings. You can resolve this by resetting Windows Update and manually installing the latest version.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help restore proper update functionality:

1. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
  • Follow the prompts to fix detected issues.

2. Reset Windows Update components manually

This clears out corrupted cache files and services:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Run the following commands one by one:
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits
    net stop cryptsvc
    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
    net start wuauserv
    net start bits
    net start cryptsvc
  3. Restart your PC and check for updates again.

3. Free up system space

  • Go to Settings > System > Storage > Cleanup recommendations.
  • Remove temporary files, old update files, and unused apps.
  • Ensure at least 20 GB of free space before attempting the 25H2 update.

4. Manually install Windows 11 25H2

If automatic updates fail, use the official upgrade tool:

5. Check for update blocks

  • Open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates.
  • Install any pending driver or firmware updates.
  • Disable any third-party antivirus or driver tools temporarily during update.

6. Verify BIOS and HP drivers are current

  • Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your exact HP model and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and Intel ME firmware.
  • Restart after each installation.

7. Review known issues with 25H2

Microsoft has published a list of known issues with Windows 11 25H2 that may affect update delivery. Review this page to check if your device is impacted by any rollout delays.

Let me know your exact HP model if you'd like help locating the correct BIOS or driver files. Once these steps are complete, your system should resume receiving updates normally.

I’ll stay with you until it’s fully patched and stable.
