Subject: Complaint regarding missing Face Lock feature on HP laptop (Model: 15-fd0050ne)

Dear HP Support Team,

My name is Ali, and I recently purchased an HP laptop (Model: 15-fd0050ne, 13th Gen).

I am writing to report an issue regarding the device settings. The Face Lock (Windows Hello Face Recognition) option is un available or not working on my laptop. I expected this feature to be present, but I am unable to find or enable it in the system settings.

Kindly guide me on whether this feature is supported on my model or provide a solution to enable it if possible.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Ali

Hi @Ali1113

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are unable to locate the Face Unlock setting on your HP laptop. Please note that Windows Hello Face Recognition may not function as expected. In some cases, the infrared (IR) camera may fail to activate, the feature may freeze. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Uninstall and reinstall the IR camera driver

  • Reinstalling the IR camera driver might resolve the issue. Uninstall the driver in Device Manager, and then reinstall the driver from HP Customer Support.
  • Search for and open Device Manager.
  • In the Device Manager window, double-click Imaging devices, right-click the name of the IR camera, and then select Uninstall device.

Uninstall and reinstall IR driver

  • Select Delete the driver software for this device, and then click Uninstall.

Uninstalling the driver software

  • Go to HP Customer Support- Software and Driver Downloads, and then enter your PC model number.
  • On the Software and driver results page for your PC model, download and install the driver for the IR camera.
  • Turn off your PC, and then manually turn it on to see if Windows Hello Face Recognition works. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

Remove the Face Recognition and PIN sign-in settings

  • In Settings, remove your Face Recognition and PIN settings from the sign-in options.
  • Search for and open Settings.
  • Click Accounts.

Clicking the Account menu

In the Settings menu, click Sign-in options.

Clicking sign-in options

  • In the Windows Hello area under Face Recognition, click Remove.

Removing face recognition

  • In the PIN area, click Remove, and then click Remove again to confirm.

Removing recognition with PIN

  • Type your password in the Password field, and then click OK.

Typing password to remove face recognition

  • Continue to the next step to clear the Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
