@edvin123garcia, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP PC’s volume up and down buttons aren’t working, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check the Keyboard or Physical Buttons

  • If you're using a laptop, the volume buttons are usually part of the function keys (F1–F12).
  • Try pressing Fn + Volume Up/Down to see if it works.
  • If it's a desktop with external keyboard, test the volume keys on another PC to rule out hardware issues.

Step 2: Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, or Bang & Olufsen) and choose Update driver.
  4. Select Search automatically for drivers.

If that doesn’t help, you can reinstall the driver:

  • Right-click the audio device and choose Uninstall device.
  • Restart your PC to reinstall the driver automatically.

Alternatively, you can use HP Support Assistant to update drivers: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Step 3: Check Keyboard Hotkey Settings

Some HP laptops use HP Quick Launch Buttons or Hotkey Support software:

  • Visit your product’s support page on HP.com and check for Hotkey Support drivers.

Step 4: Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  2. Scroll down and click Troubleshoot common sound problems.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 5: BIOS Update (if applicable)

Sometimes, a BIOS update can fix hardware key issues:

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
