Since the update two days ago, when I click on various items with the touchpad, the pointer jumps downward on the screen by about an inch. I have tried to uninstall the driver, etc. to no avail. I have searched but cannot find any help in the forum.

Hi @MrsSmittyQOH,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I understand you are having issues with the toudhpad not functioning properly after the recent update. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the exact model of the notebook? Please use this link to help you find this information: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers?

Have you tried to update the Bios?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Let's start off by uninstalling the touchpad drivers from device manager.

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand  Mice and other pointing devices>then select all the drivers listed there listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.

Check the box that states delete the software for this device.

Then restart the computer and update the Bios, Chipset, touchpad and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers Please select the country and type the product # and follow the on-screen instructions.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting for further assistance.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hello Jeet,

I did a complete reset of my HP Pavillion Notebook PC model 15-au030wm and everything was working just great! Then, today my computer did an update and I am having the same exact problem as before! I am so frustrated and I really don't have time for this as I am in college and need my computer. Is there another option when it comes to touchpad drivers? I need one that works correctly.

Thanks,

Gina
