Hi @Hary1712,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Boot device not found" (Hard disk 3F0) error indicates that your HP Pavilion 15 laptop isn't detecting the hard drive or SSD where the operating system is installed. This issue can be caused by a few different factors.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your laptop, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and press the Esc or F10 key (depending on your model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • In the BIOS, check if the hard drive or SSD is detected. If it’s not listed, it might be a sign of a hardware issue.

Run Hard Drive Test:

  • In the BIOS/UEFI menu, look for a Diagnostics or Hardware Test option.
  • Run a test to check the health of your hard drive or SSD. This might give you more information about the issue.

Check Physical Connections:

  • If you're comfortable doing so, you can open the laptop and check the connections to the hard drive or SSD. Sometimes cables can become loose or disconnected.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop, unplug the power adapter, and remove the battery (if it’s removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on your laptop.

Reinstall the Operating System:

  • If the hard drive is detected but you still receive the error, you may need to reinstall the operating system.
  • You can use a recovery disk or USB drive with the operating system installation files to perform a reinstall.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If none of the above steps work, you might have a hardware failure, such as a failed hard drive or SSD.
  • In this case, you may need to replace the hard drive or SSD and reinstall the operating system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
