Hi ! I've connected my Nexus 5 smart phone to my HP C3180 all-in-one printer using an OTG USB cable. I have downloaded the HP Inc. printing app, but on boot-up, it can't 'find' the printer. Can anybody tell me, is the C3180 compatible with Android smart phones using an OTG cable ? If it is, what am I doing wrong ? Thx.

Hi @Steve24550,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. :). I understand that you need assistance regarding the printer printing with your android device. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂

Great description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 It is paramount to assist you as you are a valuable HP customer. I take it as a genuine pleasure to assist you.

  • Did you try to download the All in one remote app and check?
  • Did you try to download the HP print service plugin app and check?

Please let me know the complete model# of the printer to check its product specifications correctly.

Please perform all the prescribed steps patiently to resolve the issue. If the printer is compatible, it will definitely work for you. Try a different OTG cable also. If it does not work, then it may not be compatible.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

Thank you for your prompt response. In the first instance I had not realised that an OTG cable is significantly different from a standard USB cable with the appropriate adaptors ! I have just ordered a purpose built OTG cable. If it solves the problem I will let you know. Many thx.
