Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows 10, 64 bit on an HP Laptop 17

When I try to capture a picture or video with my built in camera I get an error message that reads, "Something went wrong. Sorry, we weren't able to save the video. If you need it, here's the error code: 0xA00F425C<VideoCaptureFileCreationFailed> (0x80270200)"

There is no video to be retrieved, because as soon as I click the capture/record button, the error message pops up.

I have tried

1. update camera drivers (device manager)

2. scan for hardware changes (device manager)

3. ran an HP performance tune-up check

4. ran an HP hardware diagnostic check

Hi @a_dearwester

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the webcam issue.

To better assist you - May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

While you respond to that, please try these steps - HP PCs - Webcam Troubleshooting

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Have a great day!
