One or more of the eBooks you are about to purchase is in Secure (encrypted) Adobe Reader 7 format. This format requires you to have an activated version of Adobe Reader 7 to read on your PC or MAC. Encrypted Adobe Reader eBooks may not work on Palm PDAs (and will not work on PocketPCs) and you should not purchase these eBooks for the purpose of reading on any PDA. Fictionwise will not guarantee that any encrypted Adobe eBook will work on any PDA.

I would suggest that you don't purchase the encrypted Adobe Acrobat document. If the intent is to read your ebook on your Palm, then I would suggest that you chose the Palm Doc format (has nothing to do with Microsoft Word) or iSilo. You can get eReader, which is free, to read books in the Palm Doc format. You can download it here. You have to purchase iSilo, and can learn more about it here.

Maybe you can help me, too. I purchased a Palm Pre this week with Verizon. My Treo 680 stopped working in speaker mode; I had to have an earplug in to hear anything. I can't seem to download my Palm ebooks from my library to my Pre. I have a lot of books on my Treo, some of which I would like to reread on my Pre.

Hello fwgrovegorebels and welcome to the Palm forums.
What ebook reader application do you have installed on your Treo 680? You will need to download and install an ebook reader on your new Palm Pre to be able to access your books.
The bad news is that eReader.com has not released a Palm webOS reader application.

The speaker/headphone jack issue can be an easy one to fix!

I *just* got my Palm Pre and haven't tested this yet. But I see that PreCentral is discussing pReader which is one of the Palm Pre homebrew apps. It's still in beta, but it's users seem to be raving about it. Apparently it can read palm doc files, has support for multiple encodings, and can read DRM protected material (with the correct password of course). See: http://www.precentral.net/homebrew-apps/preader
