HP Elite x3
Microsoft Windows 10 IOT

As apparently has been happening with several other users, the battery on my HP Elite x3 (Verizon version) has been swelling.

This might be related, but the side buttons (power and volume) no longer work after the device has charged up some.  If I allow the battery to fully drain (at which point the Elite x3 shuts itself down) and then reconnect power to boot the device back up, the side buttons will work for a period of time, until the device gets more charge.  I have been able to do this multiple times, and each time, the buttons will eventually stop working.

The battery had been swollen for a while, but the side buttons still worked; however, about a week ago, the Elite x3 was running very hot and rebooted itself, and I've been having problems with the buttons ever since.

Is there any way to get the battery replaced?

Based on the following video tutorial from HP, it would appear that the battery should be replaceable, though perhaps not very readily:

In a post in one of the threads linked above, a website selling batteries for the HP Elite x3 was noted.

As somewhat of a workaround, it seems possible to usually enable at least temporary use of the side buttons by placing the Elite x3 between your thumb and fingers and squeezing as if trying to "flatten" the device.  It seems that when the battery has begun enlarging past a certain point, the buttons on the case no longer align properly with the mechanisms on the internal board, and so the buttons don't work.  Pressing on the device in this manner seems to realign things (at least temporarily) so that the buttons are usable again.  Thus, this appears to be a problem due to the battery swelling and causing things to misalign, rather than a problem with the buttons themselves.

At least for the power button, one alternative way to turn on the screen is to setup your fingerprints to unlock the device.
