Elitepad 900 G1
Machine will not boot into windows
The night before, I was using my tablet and performed a full shut down and plugged it into the charger.
The next morning, when I turned it on all I get is the HP logo and the circular egg timer spinning endlessly.
I've used the key sequence: Pwr + Vol(+) to get into the UEFI BIOS and tried to do a system recovery and and it hangs with the Windows 8 logo ad the egg timer spinning endlessly
I've tried to drain the battery and start it up again and I get an HP logo with "Preparing Automatic Repair" also with an endless egg timer.
All tests in BIOS have passed.
Any suggestions?

Hey Keishin,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
I hope this helps! 🙂

@ Keishin: — Actually HP Marketing isn't nearly so-fussy 'bout who buys, sells or uses ElitePad 900 tablets as Lil_Lisa27 might have you believe, and discussions about your tablet model are scattered across multiple forums; you can find where else "ElitePad 900" traffic is occurring by entering that into the search box at the top of this page. ^ ^
Before you run off, however — I'll suggest a minor adjustment to your recovery startup sequence, which may get you to the recovery options screen; Press Volume Down (-) instead of Up...
If that helps, there still may be other adventures in store for you, so 'c'mon back with more questions, or better yet — to report a successful recovery.
Good luck!

@ Keishin: In order to help you further, I will need to know more about what's interfering with your recovery attempts...
Please review the attached document, and let me know if you've manage to boot into the BIOS Startup Screen (multicolored tiles) and the numbered step(s) where your recovery attempts have failed:
Recovering Software on Your HP Tablet (Windows 😎 HP Omni 10 5600us Tablet | HP® Support

Hi Lou-Stule,
I've been able to enter the BIOS Startup Screen.
In regards to the link that you sent:
Restore system software while retaining your settings and apps (Refresh your PC)
Restore original system software (Reset your PC)
Reset your computer when Windows will not open
Can't use either of the above because I can't get into Windows
Recovering all original software using an HP USB recovery solution
I am able to do up to step 6. I set it to boot from USB drive. Afterwards, all I get is the HP logo and the circular dots spinning endlessly.
I've left it on overnight and it just stays a the same screen spinning.
Thanks

@Keishin: Thanks for that info — very useful to know just where you're getting stuck; right-off, 3 possibilities occur to me as reasons...
If your tablet is 32GB version, the Recovery device will be looking for a micro-SD card to initialize (see step 3) before proceeding with restore;
If tablet is either 32 or 64GB, the Recovery device may be unable to recognize & initialize internal storage due to hardware failure;
Your Elitepad 900 G1 may require a different "Recovery device" from the one you are using; (did you obtain it directly from HP or dealer? is it labelled "750768-002"?)
Beyond that, there's a small chance that either the Recovery device or micro-USB adapter cable could be defective.
If you've reached the bottom of this list without being able to identify & correct what's been interfering with your recovery attempts, then I can only suggest your next step will be to contact HP support for your country or region; click on "Contact us" below left, on this page.
I will try to answer any additional questions you have & I'm also very interested in knowing how this turns out. Please return to update this discussion with additional details...
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.
My tablet is the 64bit version.
The recovery device I received from HP is 714488-DN2. It's a 4GB USB 3.0 drive with WIndows 8.0 Pro.
If there's nothing else to do, I"ll be contacting HP Support. Sad to say that my warranty ended last March.
Thanks for your help.

I am in the UK and have aquired a second hand ElitePad 900 and have used the wonderful 'secure erase' thinking it would simply delete the previous owners data - as we will all know it actually 'bricks' the device - well done HP!!
Annyhoo...searching around these forums it seems there is a USB that I should be able to get from HP that will allow me to sort this issue out.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this USB or can anyone who already has the USB create and upload an image of it for me please? - that would be a wonderful thing to do...have a downlaodable image!
thanks in advanced!
A Frustrated ElitePad User
