HP Pro 8 Advanced Rugged Tablet
Android 6.0 - 6.0.1 Marshmallow

I have a project that plans to use the biometric fingerprints to indentify individuals in an Android app. It will needs to store a copy of the individual's fingerprint (serialized / converted to hex) in the application database and later use it for authentication within the app.

I'm considering the HP Pro 8 Advanced Rugged Tablet but can't find any details about how to process fingerprints from the built-in fingerprint reader. Could anyone point me to the right SDK or documentation?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I found a couple things that may help you.

The HP Pro 8 Advanced Rugged Tablet specifications say that it uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow. That is in the System Features section of this page: http://www8.hp.com/in/en/products/tablets/product-detail.html?oid=16779170#!tab=specs.

Since this is using Android 6.0, you will want to follow the instructions on this: https://developer.android.com/about/versions/marshmallow/android-6.0.html page for how to use the Android 6.0 API to develop apps and specifically how to use fingerprints. This page starts off with links to download the Android SDK and insturctions on how to use the SDK Manager to ensure you are using the correct SDK Version.

Hope this helps!
