E0W59UA#ABA Split 2x
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My touch screen was working and when my son installed a game it stopped working (Command and Conquer Zero Hour). I have tried the following:

I do not have a restore point to go to.

The touch screen is missing from the HID devices even though the registry shows HID touch screen info.

I have tried looking for the Tablet PC Settings and it is missing.

Windows 10 is up to date.

I reinstalled Windows 10 without erasing any apps.

The registry shows the Elo Touch System driver.

The registry shows a driver for a Legacy Touch screen.

I think there is a conflict with the drivers.  I would like a link for the touchscreen drivers directly from HP.

Hello @emdiazsr

There are no touch screen drivers to download from HP as the system uses the built in drivers from Windows 10.

If you go back to the Device Manager, go to View and enable hidden devices. Does the HID Touch Screen device show up, only greyed out?

If not, where did your son download that old game from? Was it one of those free game download sites like Mega Torrent?

He downloaded the game from EA Origin.  I did as you suggested; however, there are some hidden devices but none for the touch screen.  I did a complete restore on my comp and it seems that the touch screen cannot be seen.  I have tried runnng the boot touch screen test.  I do see the grid but there is no response from the screen.

Did you do a complete system restore back to factory or a Windows 10 refresh as stated in the first post?

If you completely restored the system wiping everything and putting the OS back to the beginning state Windows 8.1 from HP Restore Media, then it sounds like a hardware failure.

If you are still using Windows 10, the only thing I can think of is maybe you have the Creators Update and its the culprit.

To know if you have it, type winver in the Search bar and choose it from the pop up list.

It will show Version 1703 for the Creators Update.

Have you updated the bios yet? It might help as it was released in mid May this year and includes updated variables that might work with the new CU.

Download sp80063.exe

Otherwise, I am at a loss. Im sorry.

Thank you for your help.  I do have the Creators Update 😞  I do not think the refresh will uninstall it.  I wiped out the drive and reinstalled Windows 10.  I do not have the factory original install.  I try the BIOS upgrade and see if that will help.

OK, I did the upgrade to the BIOS and it did not help.  As far as a hardware failure, would not the HID complient touch screen driver show up in Device Manager?

HP Recommended

Thats why I was asking if you seen it in the Device Manager.

You could try uninstalling it from there if it showed up. Is there a category in the manager listed as Other? If so, what is there? Usually devices that are not registering correctly will show there also and can be uninstalled, then reboot the PC and it will reinstall again.

But if nothing is showing, then yes it could also be a sign of a hardware failure.
