I noticed that one digit doesn't fully display on the HP 12c programmable calculator.  Regardless of the number,  the fourth digit/spot from the left never fully appears.  It's a new problem.  I'm pretty certain that it's not a battery issue as I have rarely used the calculator in the 2+ yrs that I owned it.  Or am I wrong?  Do I need to replace the batteries, even though it doesn't indicate low battery life?  Or do I need to reset the calculator somehow?  Or do I need to replace this?  Besides the missing digit, the 12c seems to work okay so far.

I have had this problem as well. I solved mine with this process. Let me know if this solves yours too.

1. remove batteries

2. take paper clip and touch each battery terminal in calculator together for ten seconds.

3. replace batteries and turn on.

Apparently there is a capacitor that become fully charged and needs to be drained. Contacting the battery terminals together accomplishes this and clears up the display issue. Hope this helps.
