To whom it my concern:

In this opportunity I need your help. I found myself in trouble with the HP 35s emulator (http://www.hp.com/sbso/product/calculators-emulators/scientific-calculator-emulator.html). It works perfect but, where is the instruction manual?. For example, I do not understand the TOOLS WINDOW. The other windows:

CALCULATES: save, load, fast save and fast load (save and load what?)

EDIT: copy screen, reset calculator (reset to which situation?)

Can you please assist me with some explanations. A brief guide will be highly appreciate !

Thank you in advance, Pedro

Hi,

There is no manual for the emulator itself (as you probably noticed, under Help only the manual for the calculator is available).

In FILE:

Save: saves the state of the emualtor (and any keyed-in programs) - asks for a name.

Load: prompts to load any previously saved emulator state (including programs).

Fast Save creates a saved state of the emulator with default name "FastSave"

Fast Load: only appears if a FastSave exists, loads the existing FastSave

Check for Update: checks some HP server for emulator updates.

Exit: exits emulator

In EDIT:

Copy Screen: does a bitmap capture of the calculator screen

Reset Calculator: does nothing = broken. In an older emulator that I have it resets the emulator similar to RESET on the back of the real calculator.

In TOOL:

Macros:

Records or re-plays a set of keystrokes. In the Macro menu, select New and give a name & description, then press required keys. When finished, go to Macros again and you will be prompted to stop recording.

The macro is now visible in the Macro menu, select Play and the keystrokes will be processed. Note: playback is very slow on my PC.

Select Skin:

Selects various displays for the calculator

Options:

Skin and Macro Enabled tick boxes determines whether "Macros" or "Select Skin" is available on the TOOL menu.

I'm not sure what the other options do.

HP.COM opens your internet browser for the HP website.

In HELP:

HP 35S Help: opens the calculator manual in PDF reader

Help language: selects the language version of the calculator  manual

About: provides details of the emulator.

The calculator manual provided with the emualtor is a condensed version. The full manual is available here:

Thanks you BartdB, you answer was just what I was looking for. I will put these in practice soon. Maybe I can use the emulator as a previos step for programming

I would like to post some other questions and suggestions to the Forum:

1- ¿does anyone knows where can I found HP 35s ussers to exchange programms and experiences?

2- I have made a programming sheet form for this calculator. How can I upload it in these Forum in case someone feel interested? Or do I have to send my email address for this purpose?

Thank you very much for your consideration

Sincerely, Pedro

Hi,

> 1- ¿does anyone knows where can I found HP 35s ussers to exchange programms and experiences?

There is an active HP calculator community here:

http://www.hpmuseum.org/forum/

You can discuss the HP-35s in the "General Forum", post articles about the HP-35s in the "Articles Forum" and post program listings in the "General Software Library".

If you are interested in the history of HP calculators, you might wish to browse the museum:

> 2- I have made a programming sheet form for this calculator. How can I upload it...?

This is possibly best posted in the Articles Forum.

Enjoy 🙂
