Hi !!
I'd like to know if the HP Elite X2 1012 G1 I just bought (used) has WiGig capability. How can I check its features ? It is possible to check them online using the serial number ?
In case the WiGig module is not preseent, can I add it ? What exact part I should look for ?
Thank you in advance,
Alessandro

Hello @james81bong
I have not seen any laptop with WiGig actually installed in it.
If you do have a rare model, it would have an Intel Tri Band Wireless AC card installed in the Device Manager. It would also have to have a separate antenna. You would see it if you open the case and look at the module.
As far as I know, Intel discontinued WiGig so its not something even relevant anymore. The only use for it was to connect to an HP wireless WiGig dock. But you could only get up to 4 feet of distance if the view was unobstructed. It was a losing idea.
HP no longer sells the module and harness required to add it in. The HP Parts Store has been showing it on back order for more than a year now and I doubt they will actually ever restock it.
I have no idea where you would find anything to make that dock work with a PC.
Thats all I know about it. Sorry.
