HP Elite X3

I found this from a HP support agent and tried it out and it finally fixed my phone from randomly freezing, or while trying to turn the phone back on screen is just black, Ill paste the link below, this worked for me two days after testing this and no issues, but I cant guarantee that it will work for every single person having this issue.

Hope it helps,

The data will be lost?

Yes the data will be lost, so if you have an sd card remove it, and if and that's a big if, if you can get to the settings on your phone and back up now, then you'll be good, again you need to choose what you want backed up.
Hope this helps.

I have the same issue, screen freezes and other times it turns black. Add to these, random reboots. I tried reset but it didn't solve the issues.

So it's time to use the tool. thanks for sharing, I wouldn't know about it.

Just to update every reader of this thread, the tool fixed the phone for while (a few days) with a significant performance improvements. After a few days, the screen issue returned..

I've had the same problem. During the problem I used my x3 with the flip cover. I'm now using my x3 without the flip cover and no problems occured after removing it. Hopefully it stays this way.

I have had exactly the same experience - great improvement after the re-flash using the tool mentioned. Even bluetooth improved in terms of reliability.

I tested with/witout the fingerprint scanner. About 95% of the black-screens are gone.

Will have a go at not using the flipcover too, but after the reflash it is at a usful level - NOT before.

High hopes for next update - anyone heard/seen new firmware ?

No one is going to like this answer... but I heard back from HP support and it seems we have to wait on Microsoft to patch it....

Hello Joe,

As I advised I did work with a specialist pertaining your case. At this time the issue you are experiencing is being caused by a known issue and we are waiting for a software patch that should be released in the near future that will resolve the issue. We would also make the recommendation to disable the NFC functionality, as this has been proven to cause some delay as well.

If you require additional information, or have more questions please REPLY TO ALL on this email.

Due to the resolution being in the hands of Microsoft releasing the software patch, would you feel comfortable with me archiving the case? It will still be a valuable reference point and can be accessed in the future if any future issues arise.

For one day I used my x3 with the flip cover again, and yes....the problems were back. Black screen while trying to unlock and several restarts out of the blue. Now without flip cover no problems.

Just one....the phone fell out of my hands, flat on the screen. Lukely i used the protection glass and only this got scratched.

BUT the top of the screen which was not protected by the protection glass, had cracks 😞

Further i notice that the connection with the simslot is damaged. I regurlarly get the message "sim error, no sim" and "no sd card". I took out the sc card and changed my sim to slot 2, but also frequently the message "sim error".

Unfortunatly the phone is now broken and i can't use it anymore.
