Bricked my tablet too two weeks ago. I get "boot device not found (3F0)" when I start the tab normally. Even bought HP's recovery stick which didn't work. I got error message "reducer - HDD not found". Tried windows 8 bootable usb stick and found that windows couldn't see the eMMC disk.

Gave the power + Vol up + Vol down button press a go but did not manage to get anything on screen. Even tried "restore bios defaults" in bios menu.

Absolutely shocked that HP have released an update that bricks our tablet. Ridiculous.

Subsequent instructions for a BIOS recovery:

1. Download the BIOS update and run the .exe file (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71989.exe)

2. Connect the USB stick to the PC and then select the point 2 in the BIOS Updater to create a USB flash drive

3. USB flash drive can be formatted and created by using the tools

4. Connect the USB stick at the notebook
5. Connect the power supply
6. Press and hold the "Windows + B + all arrows" keys
NOTE: The computer must be turned off!
7. Short pressing the power button and continue holding the key combination of § 6 for 3 seconds, release the key combination when Caps-Lock starts to flash.
8. Wait about 5 minutes (The display shows the progress shown)
9. Automatic restart
10. The following message appears after restarting?
BIOS RECOVERY (500)
Yes: BIOS successfully restored

If the display shows the message "BIOS RECOVERY (500)" is not displayed, perform the following steps:
1. Press and hold the Einschaltknopfes for 4 seconds.
2. Repeat the points 6-10.

That works on a pc.. not on a tablet i guess. Moreover i dont have a keyboard with windows button on it.. 😕

At least the HP Support argues in a second post that this key combination should work also on an omni 10...

I tried the Windows Key + B + Arrow Keys and the tablet just goes straight to the Boot Drive Not Found error.  I don't think it recognizes that key combination.
