Same problem here. I installed Windows 10, then tried to do a bios update to F.08 and now I also get a black screen with "Boot device not found".
In the german Support forum, HP suggests as a solution to the problem an update to a bios Version F.09 and provides a link to the new bios file. However, there is no explanation how to do the update.
I tried updating from an usb (one can create an update usb on a normal pc). However, my omni 10 just ignores the usb and does not start an update. Does someone have an idea how a bios update can be made as suggested by HP?

@oscar8u I've read the entire thread. I don't know if I buy the idea that installing Windows elsewhere will resurrect the EMMC that isn't detected by anything as far as I can tell...
It seems like the BIOS update didn't work properly. It ran the in-Windows step of the update, but when it rebooted it said it had failed. When I've previously updated the BIOS on this tablet, it reboots and performs an additional update step. That didn't happen this time. So I suspect we have a partial update. The main BIOS updated but something else didn't. Maybe the embedded controller firmware. They've really got this BIOS update process so convoluted these days.

@Posco
The BIOS update process can be run within a booted USB Windows 8 setup if you use command line. You will get an error about CaslApp.exe having a side by side problem but the flash still proceeds. I tried to re-flash f.08 yesterday using this method. It didn't solve the problem obviously. I am not sure I want to try this F.09 myself though.....

There are many times I refer to the emmc storage as an SSD and that is my mistake but the emmc storage in the omni 10 acts like an SSD. Google SSD not being recognised by windows 8, you'll see that people with SSD have this problem, but as soon as they boot from another hdd their SSD is recognised.
Also when trying a refresh using a bootable windows 8.1 USB it mentions that the drive where windows is installed is locked, this one really puzzled me, the omni 10 may know the emmc is in there but it is not allowing you to modify it in any way because it is locked, this is also a common problem with SSD. Again my advice is to google this, sites like tomshardware have a lot of information on this.

The screen is black blank. it is off not on I am talking about bios recovery the only thing that reacts is the Windows touch logo below screen. Stop talking about ssd. The tablet should start in the first place to get to ssd problem!!!!

Well, let me give a summary of failures of upgrading bios.
My tablet, Omni 10 5600US, was running windows 8.1 well. After upgrading to windows 10, some controllers were not recognized in device manager so I'd like to check hp website to find a solution.
On July 29th, hp released bios named F.08A for windows 10 (SP71988.exe). I updated it then the tablet can not recognize the SSD(or eMMC) at all. The tablet could still boot from USB flash drive (windows installation disc or Windows PE) or enter bios. All disk tools could not find interal SSD/eMMC. The bios didn't show any information for SSD/eMMC.
So after several days, Hp updated the bios without version change (still F.08A but named as SP71989.exe). I used a windows PE flash drive and updated the bios again. But this time the tablet could never boot. It was always black screen and only kept reading usb flash drive for 3 second then nothing happened as foroughi9300 described.
I tried methods provided by SonicR (discharge, recharge, combination keys) but failed to enter bios recovery mode.
All I get is the short or long vibration of the tablet with black screen.
I can not believe why HP release two non-functional bioses to users without testing at all! It is clear that the first bios makes the internal SSD was not recognized and the second bios makes the tablet a brick!
We need a solution, otherwise it will be my last HP product.
