HP Prime

I just got my HP Prime in the mail today, so far it's been working great. However, it only works great when plugged into a power source. When I plug it in, the unit turns on and the battery indicator in the top right of the screen indicates that the battery is at 100% and there is no yellow charging indicator overlaying it (I've seen it pop up once or twice) , however, the moment I unplug it from whatever power source it's connected to, the unit immediately shuts off and will not turn back on unless I connect it to another power source. I've measured the battery voltage and it seems more or less normal, but the darn thing refuses to power up on its own battery power. Everything functions as it should when plugged in.

Pressing the "RESET" pin on the back when not plugged in does nothing, neither does pressing the "ON" button.

I've left it to charge for about 5 hours now and it still behaves this way.

It's the most recent firmware on Revision A hardware.

Is my battery defective? Is the unit defective? Am I missing something?

Not sure if it help, but you can try to clean all the contacts at the battery and in the battery compartment inside the prime.

Best would be isopropyl alcohol, but ethyl alcohol should be ok as well.

You can try this:

1. Open the battery compartment in the back. There are two small screws.

2. Remove the battery.

3. Connect to a power source so it powers up.

4. With the calcualtor powered up, put the battery back in.

5. Leave it for 10 minutes or so charging.

6. Unplug and see if it stays on.

7. If not, contact support.
