Hello everyone,
I found a HP Stream 7 tablet in the trash. I would like to use it for myself. I tried to do a factory reset by holding down the volume down key and power key, pressing F11 for system recovery, and trying to do a factory reset. But as soon as I press F11, it restarts the tablet and takes me to the welcome screen. The welcome screen has the name of the owner who threw it out. I cannot log in. I then tried to go back and change the boot options so that secure boot was disabled. After this, when the tablet restarts, it displays some messages about Bitlocker and recovery. When I skip these steps and go into system recovery, it does take me to the troubleshoot screen, and I can press factory reset, but this time it just says factory reset failed. I am assuming this has to do with BIOS security or Bitlocker security the previous owner put on the tablet. But there still must be some way to bypass all of these and hard reset or flash and clean install Windows on the system so that I can use it. What are my options now?
Thanks,
mike_mr

Hi:
If the PC will boot from a USB flash drive see if this works...
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, since your PC is not working.
W10 will work with the product key in the BIOS, install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
You may want to consider deleting all of the partitions on the drive since it is so small and leaves no room for updates.

The problem is there is no Operating system on the tablet. I have delete it with a mistake. SO is there any way to get a new OS on that device? I have tryed wth a USB stick with a Windows 10 Iso but I can not install it.
