HP Stream 8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I searched for help with Google and with forum posts but I still got nothing fixed...

I bought a Tablet from Ebay, there is no password for me to get into the desktop and when i go to Troubleshooting

there is no [Rest your PC] option shown to me. I am not sure if its because there is Windows 10 installed or if it is damaged.

Pressing Down Button and On Button I can get to the System Menu but by pressing F11 it only gives me an error.

I tried downloading the Tool from microsoft and i downloaded the win10 to my micro sd card which I inserted to the back of my Tablet but when I try to boot it from there nothing happens?

Please help me.

Some things to try:

  • You should use 32-bit Windows 10 since the Stream only has 1 GB of RAM.
  • Try to boot the SD/USB combo on another computer to see if it boots there.
  • Disable secure boot in the Stream's UEFI system menu.
  • Delete secure keys in the Stream's UEFI system menu.
  • Use an actual USB drive.
  • Try another OTG adapter, I have some that do not work on my Stream 7 for some reason.

The Stream 8 came with Windows 8.1 with Bing and then was probably upgraded to Windows 10. This breaks the recovery partition so trying to recover using the F11 option will no longer work.

Also, the Stream 8 cannot boot from the SD card slot, it can only boot from the charge port using a OTG adaptor and USB drive in order to reinstall Windows 10 fresh.  You would also need a powered USB hub, mouse and keyboard.

So it's a useless piece of plastic?

Do I really need a usb hub, mouse and keyboard ?

Is there a way to create an admin user

or to crack/overwrite/reset the passwort of an excisting user account on the tablet?

I bought the OTG adaptor, I somehow dont have a USB drive but i have a micro SD to USB Adapter which I put into the OTG adaptor. When I try to boot it, it says "the selected boot device failed press enter to continue ".

I can go into the SD Folder so it is correctly connected but it doenst load. I used the Boot Tool from Microsoft and installed Windows 10 64 on it. What now?

Excuse my bad english.

But I still have a problem...

The Touchscreen is not working, home button does nothing but turn off if i hold it pressed down and the sound driver is not working. Any idea?

If you did a fresh installation of Windows 10, you would have to download and install device drivers from hp.com.
