I've installed some apps that I want to get rid of.  How do I delete them?

mlmarsh2,

Like GuruAid said, if you touch and hold a tile for over a second, a task bar will rise up from the bottom with the options to Pin to Start, Pin to Taskbar and Uninstall.

Does this not work for any tile app or only the programs you are wanting to get rid of?

IF only certain apps, which ones are they?

Also, if main funtionality has been lost like the ability to uninstall any apps, you may want to reload Windows back to factory as something may have been altered (or infected) via one of those things you installed recently.

If you need help with that, let us know.

Steps to delete unwanted apps:
1. On the Start screen, press and hold or right-click the app tile.
2. Tap or click Uninstall.
3. If you'd rather not uninstall an app, but want to remove it from your Start screen, instead of tapping or clicking Uninstall, tap or click Unpin from Start.

If touching the app doesn't work, just "right click" and it'll give you the option to Uninstall. I'm not sure the uninstallijng also deletes it. That's what I'm trying to figure out on the forums, because I had all these "pre installed" apps that I never use, and I need other things on my HP Stream that I use regularly, but all these apps are taking up too much memory.

Hello jesmb,

Uninstalling an App also deletes it unless its part of Windows functionality.

Example: you cannot uninstall the default Camera App because it is part of the functionality of a tablet.

Third pary programs like games that were pre-installed will uninstall and will not be available unless you download them from the Windows Store again.

Is that what you are asking?

Thanks 🙂

I'm trying to clean it up as much as I can to add what I use regularly.

OK got ya.

Tip: the actual Windows Store "Apps" that you do want to install will have to go onto the C: drive.

But regular Windows "Desktop Programs" can be installed onto a Micro SD card if you have one inserted. Create a folder called Programs (just like the C: drive has) to install into. That will help with space manangement also.

Hope it helps. :generic:
