Product: HP USB External DVD RW Drive
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased an HP USB External DVD RW Drive.  Should a program disc been included in the package?

Many vendors now won't ship CD's with hardware because those CD's would be useless in few months (from the production line to customers doors) due to software change therefore they keep software and drivers on internet, cheaper and easy to update.

 

Now, you can look at the model/product (very important, not generic name such as HP USB External DVD RW Drive) and go to HP site to download (if available).

reading the manual online, the external USB DVD/RW comes with a software bundle. Its required to record or copy on to and cd or dvd, without it you can only lisyen to music or watch a DVD. And HP doesn't have anything to download from their site.
