Another thing you could try is a nifty utility called DbFixIt from Pimlico Software.  It seems like it's still available, here:

It can detect and delete corrupt records.  If you pay the $12.95 for a registration code, the registered version can repair damaged records.  If your TX is sending corrupt or damaged records to your desktop, this could help solve it.

I've been using Palm handhelds for decades, it seems, and just when they got it right with the TX, they abandoned PalmOS.  I use one of mine almost every day, though not for the address book or calendar.  There is (was) a commercial database app called SmartList To Go, which was extremely powerful.  I used it to build a relational homebrewing (beer) recipe database which does almost all of the basic calculations for ingredients and water use.  With the same app I have years of car repair records, and a whole bunch of other databases.  It syncs with a desktop (though I haven't synced in a couple of years).  And I play a few hands of TriPeaks and Yahtzee almost every day.

Back to your issue, I recall that Palm Desktp 4.x had a built-in repair utility which you could access from the menu, and it could fix damaged records.  I also see it in Palm Desktop 6.2.2 by selecting Tools > Options > Tools, and there's a button to check and repair corrupted records on the desktop.  Maybe that could also help.

Good luck.
