My old palm broke recently, but I have a backup dba file that I would like to put into google or sunbird, but I can't get the dba into csv format. Is this possible?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the Forums.

To answer your question outright, you cannot convert a.dba file into .csv. Now with that said what you can do is go to Chapura.com and purchase Pocket Copy. Then use that to import your data into Outlook. From there you can convert it to a .csv file and import it into Google or Sunbird. Hope this helps........

Why not just open the .dba file in Palm Desktop and export it again to a .csv file?

EDIT: Disregard the above - I had my Contacts mixed up with my Calendar.  (I hate when I do that!)  :smileytongue:

Palm Desktop can't export the calendar as csv - otherwise I wouldn't have posted!

I checked out pocket copy, but there's no trial version, I don't have Outlook 2003, and I can't tell from their web site if you can preserve categories, which I need for the colors.

I'm about to try Dba2Csv which looks like it can do what I want, and I'll post back with the results.

Thanks again,

Qi

I tried purchasing the program, Dba2csv, which on the surface is the solution.   HOWEVER, they clearly note that if you're using Desktop 6.2.2 (which I am since I'm running on Vista) IT WILL NOT WORK due to some incompatibility in how it treats a dba file.    Help someone!   There's got to be a solution.    Palm Support folks?    Palm users?   Now is your time to shine.

I'd just borrow an XP machine for 30 minutes, fire up Palm Desktop 4.1.4, sych to it and then use Dba2Csv - I didn't find any better method.

I have come to the same conclusion which makes sense.   Thank you for the suggestion.

Using the Palm Desktop software, go to File... Export.  Then when you name the file, type in .csv at the end, and the file will export as a .csv.  I did this and it wroked.  I have not yet imported it into google.  Has anyone else tried this?

Simple solution: use www.palm2csv.com. It's fast, free and easy, and there's nothing to download or install. Once you create your CSV file(s) you can import them into Google Calendar.
