My Touchpad will not turn on. When i plug in the charger it still won't boot up. But it does show lights at the bottom center button flashing left, right, and back to left...then a pause and the same sequence starts again.

Have you tried restarting it?

Press and hold both the power switch and center button together for 15-20 seconds until you see the HP logo.  When you see it, release the buttons.

Thanks, but YES! I have tried all of the suggested button resets mentioned in these forums. Nothing works. Even tried the "hold power, volume up, center button" method for various amts of time. Also tried the hit center button 15 times for 15 seconds each time method..lol.  Nothing but flashing lights : only when plugged into elctric socket. ???

Only other guess would be the charging cable.  There have been many reports of the USB cable failing.

See if you can locate another micro-USB cable to use with the supplied charger.  The TouchPad has to use the 2,000mA charger that came with it.  A smaller cellphone charger will not supply enough current to properly charge the device.

Bought 2 Hp Touchpad chargers, checked to  make sure the barrel was correctly seated (contacts). Also bought 2 Touchstones. Not working. Very frustrated. Ordered new battery but hate to try to install it.

I read a sizable thread over at webosnation.com on the subject, and a few members report reviving their dead touchpads by using a weaker cellphone charger for a long period - one tried it for 15 hours. They said it gave the touchpad just enough juice at a trickle rate to "wake up" the charging circuitry.

Once this occurred, the regular charger was employed and the device returned to normal.

(BTW, the first post in the thread is a hardcore way to revive it - later on users report the cellphone charger method)

i tried that as well. used several micro-usb chargers from various devices for lengthy times. Finally opened up unit, unassembled boards, ribbons carefully..replaced battery, reassembled and it works. Very difficult repair job.
