I have copied some audio MP3 files from my notebook to the Touchpad. The audio plays on the notebook and plays from the file directory when I access the files on the Touchpad through the usb. The files show up in the MUSIC area on the TP, but none play. What am I doing wrong? Or what am I missing?

Hi,
Probably you need a player. Normally we should have player with Windows 7 and below. Please right click one file (MP3) to see what are in the list:
I've never played music on my computers but for testing I use VLC. If you wish, you can download VLC from the following link:

Regards.

The TouchPad is a webOS device, and does not run Windows 7...
To the OP - I've seen many folks who ripped CD's with Windows Media Player and assumed the files were mp3, when in fact they were ripped to the default .wma format. By any chance could this be true in your case? The TouchPad cannot natively play .wma files.
Mp3's have to be free of DRM (Digital Rights Management). Many songs purchased from sites (like iTunes) contain this copyright scheme and also will not play.

I don't think so. The files are actually free MP3 audio files for a walking tour. They were downloaded directly from the website, not copied from a CD. I have not played any music on my TP previously so I'm not sure if there is something else that I need to do to play these files. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

So just to be sure, can you verify the files you downloaded on your computer have the .mp3 extension?
Can you hear any sound from the device? Check the simple things - raise the volume up, check the sound settings, and try restarting the device. Device Info/Reset Options/ Restart.
There are other music players available in the App Catalog. I use Audiophile and Kalemsoft Media Player, the latter can play other file formats like .wma.
