I try to get into my pavilion model 15 series. But as it boots up, a blue, rectangular box appears and says " The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to Continue." The key pad don't work, only the enter key and the escape key work to turn it off, but when I press another button, the computer makes a beep.
IDK wut to do, please help because it's been like this a month.
The POWER ON SELF TEST (POST) is first, and and an F2 Diagnostic at power on may help to show the problem.
Next is going via the BIOS to the Boot Area on the HDD.
And I think this where it has failed.
So if the Hard Disk passes the F2 Diagnostic then try something like this
(depending on the OS concerned)
READ THRU AND ASK AGAIN PLEASE.
This First part only works when a valid Recovery Partition is enabled. If it displays an error message then move onto the Second Part:- OR if you have data you wish to try and save using the XCOPY command. Then create your own Repair/Recovery/Rebuild/Re-install media or buy a set from HP.
Turn off the computer. Disconnect all connected devices and cables, Media Drives, USB drives, printers, & faxes. Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware. Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, or power cord.
Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key, about once every second, until the Choose an option screen is displayed, and then continue.
On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot, and work your way through the screens.
