PLEASE HELP

My laptop keeps shutting off randomly. I will be doing something like sorting files or going onto google and it will just shutdown for no reason.

  • The battery is fine and so is the charger
  • I haven't gotten any error messages or pop ups what so ever
  • I restarted my laptop about a month ago so I could start fresh and not have all my old files and things.
  • My internet connection is wireless

@EmilyMLoper

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and I would like to help

Is the Notebook overheating? Do the Notebook shut down when you have the Ac Adapter connected?

Please update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers and ensure you completed all the Windows update

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.

If the issue persists run an extensive System Test on the Notebook. This might take few hours but let me know if the Notebook shuts down during the diagnostic and this will help us in identifying the issue

- Shut down the Notebook completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Tests, then click Extensive Test.

Keep me posted

Thank you and have a great day 😊
