I just purchased a SanDisk 4.0GB SDHC card, with its MicroMate card reader.  I've been reading about whether or not my Treo 680 will actually support this new card (I didn't even think about it until I saw that it was an SDHC card, and not just an SD card).

I see that you said that Treo 680 *does* support the SDHC card, but no official Palm site or specs state this.

I recently upgraded to a 680, because of a really bad firmware update experience that made my 650 inoperable, so I am really gun-shy about updates to my Treo.  Is there anything that could cause my entire Treo to freak out and not work by me testing out or trying out this SD card?

I have a great 2GB card that works wonders right now, but I'd love to try out the 4GB SDHC card to add additional space for pictures, videos, mp3s, etc.  I just don't want to mess up the SD card capabilities that I *do* have.

Any suggestions on protecting my current set up before trying out this new card?

Thanks for any advice or assistance you might be able to provide.

Cheers,
Michelle

What are some of the best sources for good prices on 4GB sd cards??
Will 4GB sd HC cards work on Tungsten E?
Thanks

SDHC cards will NOT work on older hardware, they are not backward-compatible. You can learn more about SD and SDHC cards on Wikipedia and at the SD Association website.

So, Palm says that the 680 is not compatible with SDHC...and over on Treo Central zillions of people say it works just fine (just doesn't show the last 4 gb until the first 4gb are filled)...

What's the deal with Palm?

I have 2 Lifedrive's both accept and have no problem with either of my
4GB Ritech, Silver label, Pro series.

I also tried Ritech's green label Supreme series and was unable to get either card
to work, (they replaced it after the 2nd green with a silver that works flawlessly).
Their people say that both are really the same card, but experience says different.

I was also able to use a 4GB Transend SD card.

All of them are formatted with a FAT32 filesystem.
