Spectre X360 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have bought the new spectre x360 15 inch model with 8th gen core i7 processor a couple of days back. I tried plugging my external hard drives but they were not recognized by the laptop. I have one WD and one seagate brand hard drives that works perfectly fine with all other laptops that I use. The small led indicators on the HDDs lit up when plugged in but I didn't find them in my computer. I even looked up in storage tab under disk management, but these drives weren't there either. Any sugestion is highly appreciated.

Hello @DS2017

Disconnect every USB device except for your mouse.

Go into Device Manager (not Disk Management).

Then go up to View/Show hidden devices and enable it.

Expand the dropdown for Universal Serial Bus controllers at the bottom.

Right click on each USB Mass Storage Device (both greyed out and not greyed out) and delete all of them.

Go up to Portable Devices and see if there are any greyed out devices there and delete them also.

Reboot and connect one of those external HDD's.

Let me know if it works.
