I bought my HP Notebook - 15-af152nr about 1.5 years ago. The hard drive recently crashed and is unrecoverable. I have installed a hard drive but cannot find my Windows OS key for the device. I either misplaced it or never received it. Is there any way someone can help me locate it?

You do not need the key. You can install fresh Windows 10 and SKIP the step asking for the key. Windows 10 will activate when you come online.
But if you wish (later) the key is in the BIOS of your machine, please use the following tool to get it:

When run this tool, it produces a report, scroll down to Software Management section. Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 product key is in there.
